BEACHCOMBER

The BeachComber mobile youth service is a fully decked out youth center on wheels! The BeachComber offers free internet access with five computers on board, Nintendo Wii games on a projector, a lounge and hang out area, as well as a full PA system for playing music and even having bands perform.

The bus is staffed by our top-notch youth support and recreation team who are available to talk to if you need a hand.

The BeachComber regularly swings by all the schools on the Peninsula and features at heaps of local events, so no doubt you'll be seeing us around!

BREAK LOOSE

The Break Loose program gives young people of the Mornington Peninsula the opportunity to learn a detailed hip-hop dance routine, as well as skills in music production, event planning and presentation. Young people are participate in the 10 week program and then present to their friends and family in a final production.

The music production component is new and a great success where young people can discover their talents vocally or through musical instruments such as the native American flute. The final production is run by the young people who are in charge of the mixing desks, lighting, MCing and other technical equipment. This program is a fantastic way for young people to express themselves through dance, music and creative arts.

BRIGHT SPARKS

Bright Sparks is a five week Personal Development Program developed specifically for year 6 students. It is offered to all Primary schools in the Mornington Peninsula Shire.

Every week of this program is a different topic. We cover things like healthy relationships, establishing support networks, body changes, diversity education and cyber safety and all of these topics include super fun activities and new experiences.

This program is loads of fun and will help prepare its participants for the transition to high school. For some extra fun we also bring along our awesome Beachcomber Bus for students to access during lunch time!

COMMUNITY LEADERS PROGRAM

Community Leaders is a young mens program that gives participants the opportunity to contribute to various community projects as well as learn about local community services and initiatives. It is hoped that the Community Leaders program will inspire young men to become active members of their community either through volunteering opportunities or positive social outlets.

IMPAKT FREEZA

iMPAkT Is a committee of young people who plan and organise Freeza music events throughout the Shire. Freeza is funded by the Department of Planning and Community Development and Mornington Peninsula Shire. Each year iMPAkT hosts a minimum 5 music events with three being located in Mornington at the Peninsula Community Theatre. iMPAkT committee members develop skills in marketing, event management and production and have a fun time in developing great friendships.

L2P LEARNER DRIVER PROGRAM

A program to assist learner drivers between 16 - 21 years to gain their required 120 hours of driving experience. Learners must have a current Learner's Permit, limited/no access to a supervising driver and suitable car.

Volunteer mentors are trained to coach learner drivers and use the provided L2P car to supervise their learner driver until they reach their 120 hour goal.

This program, an initiative of VicRoads, funded by the TAC, was developed to address disadvantaged learner drivers to gain their 120 hours and to become safer road users through this experience.

SKATE & CREATE

Skate and Create is a 13 week program that looks at developing skate parks on the Mornington Peninsula. Young people involved have the opportunity to contribute ideas to current and future skate park development, create and implement a skate park event, go on a road trip to Torquay, make new friends as well as visit a variety of skate parks on the Peninsula and beyond.

Young people between the ages 13 - 18 that have an interest in skate parks and the future development of parks on the Peninsula are encouraged to get in touch with us.

WILDLIFE

WildLife is a 12 week program run at Shed11 Hastings, with various recreational and environmental activities, ending with an overnight camp and a Big Family Breakfast!

The WildLife program is designed to encourage positive recreational experiences within a team and in the community. It is a Primary School program targeting year 5/6 students to make connections with their environment and introduce youth and community services within their local area.

Young people are chosen from two local schools, 8 participants from each, where they have an opportunity to make friendships and develop stronger relationships with other young people in their community.

YOUNG PARENTS ARE GOOD PARENTS

The group is for mum's and dad's who are under 25 years old and living on the Southern Peninsula.

The group was started to combat social isolation, to help promote a positive view of young parents within their community, to assist young parents to build a stronger social and support network, and to provide information and support.

The group meets on a Tuesday and enjoys different activities that may include:

  • MaCH check ups with baby and toddler information
  • Craft activities
  • Cooking and lots more.

This group is jointly support by Anglicare - Parentzone, MPS Youth Services and MPS Maternal and Child Health Service.
